I remember that one week ago it has been so cold I had to wear my warmest woollen sweater underneath my winter jacket and my fingers were frozen. The thermometer showed almost -10 degrees, I could finally go ice skating again and my nose was red constantly. Today it was +7 degrees and although I enjoy the warmth of the sun on my skin I feel like we haven’t had a proper Winter and I am not ready to welcome Spring yet.
All that comes to my mind when I think about this Winter is greyness. I have been warned, but still, I am a little bit disappointed because I wished for more cold and sunny winter days. February is supposed to be the coldest months of the Finnish winter season. Snow should cover the streets and the forest should look extraordinarily beautiful. But instead, Spring is knocking on our doors. I am looking forward to green forests, flowers, and light clothes, while spending hours outside without getting cold, but I would like to have some proper golden winter days before that! The forecast promises some colder temperatures for the end of the week. Let’s hope the sun and snow will show up so I can go to Nuuksio like I planned to, shoot some last frosty photos and welcome Spring then!
